Baby Care Baby Baths

Your baby is ready for his first official baby bath. Do you have the correct equipment to give your baby a bath? You need soft terry cloth wash clothes, a mild soap like Huggies Baby Wash or Johnson and Johnson Baby Bath, a soft terrycloth towel and a tub with a non skid slanted mesh table. You place the baby on the mesh in the tub and holding the baby with one hand lather the baby with the soap on the washcloth and gently wash the baby.

If you are a first time mom, prepare the washcloth and the soap before the baby gets in the baby bath. The bath water should be very warm not hot. You have to find the right balance of holding the baby and bathing him at the same time. Until you get the hang of it you can give the baby a bath in the sink and just run the water and do no fill the sink up.

Or if you have help you can keep the baby in the tub and have someone hand you the items you need and then you can hand off the baby when you are done. After a while you will get better and better at it. Until the baby is 5 months old do not fill the tub with water, let it come from the faucet and go into the drain. Until you are comfortable holding the baby and bathing him with one hand let the water drain down, it will be better for the baby.
