| A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves. The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land. Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.” |

Claire McCaskill was entwined in a scandal over the use of her personal plane for campaign travel, the Missouri Democrat has released amended campaign finance reports dating back to 2006.According to the new filings with the Federal Elections Commission, McCaskill’s campaign committee had failed to account for 143 contributions in the ‘06 cycle, totaling nearly $277,000. The committee also missed about $277,000 in disbursements. | Claire is the three year old granddaughter of my nephew, Tim and his wife, Susie. Claire lives in Texas with her mom and dad Tiffany and Tyler. Yesterday she was found floating in a pool ... I do not know details beyond that bare and stark fact. She is now at Children's Hospital, but the family in CA is unsure if this is in Houston or Dallas. She is on the ventilater 50% of the time and off it breathing on her own the other 50%. She is on a cooling pad to keep brain swelling down if possible. Please... |

| This meeting was for Kansas City and Saint Joseph. This was the first NRA-ILA activism meeting I have ever attended, so I don't really have a reference point. That being said... The NRA has put together a 13 minute movie on the gun confiscations during Katrina that is incedibly powerful. I hope they stream it so we can spread it around (unlike the LaPierre/Peters debate that we had to buy). This movie will convert moderate anti-gunners as well as motivate the 80 million gun owners who aren't NRA members and who don't vote. The NRA rep said the movie isn't... |
